N4’s process of using the Story Exchange with a whole-class text allows students to be in conversation with a variety of voices, expanding their sense of community and what’s possible for themselves. In our book resource collections, we begin with an N4 Story Exchange to investigate a theme related to the book we're about to read, then explore how a book investigates that theme and others, and finally consider how students might carry their learning forward into their communities through civic engagement.
