Dear Data

Dear Data

In this project, educator Tanya LaMar invites students to use data visualization to tell a story about some aspect of their daily life.
“The hours in a day and the meaning of our lives are defined by our actions and feelings – how much we sleep, who we talk to, what we make, what media we consume, where we go, how we feel throughout the day. Hour by hour and activity by activity gather to create a definition of who we are. “Dear Data” helps students investigate some aspect of their daily lives through data visualization. Students’ data visualization will become a way for students to:
learn how math can be used for fact-based storytelling
build community by sharing some aspect of themselves with their classmates
learn about themselves by examining one aspect of their daily behavior”
